Join the Family!

Over the past century, we have all fought together and won many of the freedoms and equalities that we had long been denied. But the times ahead are just as critical as the decades past. We need your help and your membership to fight the racial disparities that are still so prevalent in American education, jobs, housing, health care and criminal justice systems.

If you are ready to become a member please click the link below print and fill out the neccessary information. For more information on membership please contact our Membership Committee Chair Clinesha Sims (clsims@valdosta.edu)

We hope to see you as a member of the NAACP family!

VSU NAACP Membership Point System

Goal of the Point System

The goal of our point system is to help ensure that members attend meetings and events on a regular basis and are active within the organization. The point system will be used to also measure the activeness of members. Also, on the basis of the points, members who have proven to be active and accumulated the required amount of points will be eligible for a graduation stole sponsored by the chapter and other recognition by the chapter.

About the Points System

· Earning points is optional for VSU NAACP members, but is required for those who want to receive Graduation Stoles, join us on Campus Connect, and be considered an active member in the chapter.

· One's point total is important for a number of reasons. In addition to one's status in VSU NAACP, point totals will be considered during applications for NAACP gifts and executive board positions.

· Points can be earned by participating and attending VSU NAACP events and meetings throughout the year(s). View below for information of some examples of ways to earn points.

· While participating in other causes off campus are strongly commended, only volunteering hours under VSU NAACP activities will grant members points.

Determining Membership Status Per Semester

Below is a creative chart of how membership status for members will be determined based off the point system. This chart may also be used to determine appointed positions, awards, and recognitions.

Membership Status Chart

Biggest and the Baddest… (Active Status) 200+

Revolutionary (Active Status) 125

Freedom Fighter (Active Status) 75

Activist (Nearly Active Status) 50

Graduation Stole Information

·Graduating members with 100 (or more) points throughout their years of membership will receive a VSU NAACP Graduation Stole to wear at the Commencement Ceremony.

·Although it is recommended, it is not required to be active every year to receive a Graduation Stole but as long as you have 100 points by the deadline, you may receive one. Points are cumulative over the semesters

·To receive Graduation Stoles in time for graduation, please refer to the table below to make sure all points are earned before the deadline.

·At the point of declaring earned points, you must be a paid member and considered an active member of the chapter.
